Education Elephant Unveils SWIFT: Streamlining Digital Assessments for Schools

A new digital tool designed to streamline the standardised testing process, save time, and improve student outcomes with real-time data insights.

Education Elephant, a leader in psychology-based educational assessment solutions, is excited to announce the launch of SWIFT, an innovative digital assessment platform designed to streamline how schools manage standardised testing and analyse performance
data.

The platform was launched in December 2024 for students aged 11-14 years and 11 months, with a subsequent release in early 2025 for those aged 16-18. SWIFT is built to save time, reduce workloads, and ensure compliance with the rigorous requirements of Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) standards for exam accommodations.

The introduction of SWIFT marks a new era in school assessments, tackling two of the most significant challenges educators face: the time-consuming nature of standardised testing and the complexity of analysing performance data.

Unlike traditional assessment tools, SWIFT is a comprehensive assessment platform that evaluates key areas of student ability through targeted tests, providing instant scoring and detailed reports for actionable insights. SWIFT includes a suite of stand-alone tests designed to assess a broad range of student abilities.

Key areas of assessment

  • Reading Fluency: Measures speed and accuracy in reading, highlighting potential comprehension difficulties.
  • Math Fluency: Evaluates basic mathematical problem-solving under timed conditions.
  • Processing Speed: Tests how quickly students process information, identifying those who may benefit from additional time.
  • Working Memory: Assesses the ability to retain and manipulate information, which is critical for problem-solving and reasoning.
  • Spelling: Analyses spelling proficiency to identify literacy challenges.

SWIFT is designed with inclusivity in mind, and it generates robust evidence for access arrangements such as extra time or scribes, ensuring every student has an equitable chance to succeed.

The platform provides real-time data, enabling educators to make informed decisions and implement targeted interventions, ensuring that each student receives personalised attention based on their learning needs. Educators using SWIFT during early trials have reported remarkable outcomes. Group assessment times were reduced by 60%, while 90% of participants acknowledged significant time savings in their assessment process.

Additionally, 80% highlighted SWIFT’s ease of use, quick and detailed reporting, and ability to streamline the entire assessment process, showcasing its effectiveness in supporting data-driven teaching strategies.

According to Rebecca Good, a renowned educational psychologist and the Director of Education Elephant, “SWIFT was developed with the goal of offering a holistic approach to assessment. Its suite of targeted tests ensures that educators have the tools to evaluate not just literacy but a wide range of cognitive and academic skills. By reducing the burden of testing and providing real-time data insights, we empower educators to focus on what matters most—supporting student learning and growth. SWIFT not only simplifies assessments but ensures that teachers have the tools they need to make a real difference in their students’ academic achievements”.

With schools already onboarding ahead of the official launch, early adopters are set to gain access to tailored support and flexible billing options that align with their unique needs.
