Benefits of TOD:

  • This is the first comprehensive dyslexia assessment to include interventions tied to the assessment data. Suitable for all ages, the TOD offers age and grade-based tests, indexes, and composite scores.
  • TOD has three distinct kits allowing for greater flexibility and use across different settings (TOD-Early Years; TOD Screener; TOD Comprehensive)
      1. TOD-Early (Grades K–2; 5 years, 0 months–9 years, 3 months) contains all of the tests necessary to make a dyslexia diagnosis* in young children, eliminating the need to draw from different test batteries (*a diagnosis should only be made by qualified clinicians and and practitioners)
      2. TOD-Comprehensive (Grade 1 through adulthood; 6 years, 0 months–89 years, 11 months) contains all of the tests necessary to make a dyslexia diagnosis*, eliminating the need to draw from different test batteries (*a diagnosis should only be made by qualified clinicians and and practitioners)
      3. TOD-screener provides a fast way to assess groups (10-15 minutes) of students and identify those at risk of dyslexia. This test is best suited to teachers or other professionals. The test can be given individually or in a group format.
  • The TOD includes:
      • A detailed and evidence-based Dyslexia Interventions and Recommendations Companion Guide.
      • Co-normed rating scales.
      • Tests of reasoning for comparison with reading and spelling.
  • The TOD allows for:
      • Identification and diagnosis of dyslexia (when carried out by a qualified assessor)
      • Identification and targeting of an individual’s difficulties in acquiring literacy skills.
      • Universal application regardless of district Specific Learning Disability (SLD) model.
      • Individually tailored evaluation with standalone tests.

Who can use the TOD?

  • The components of the TOD can be used by a variety of clinicians and educators. For example, a classroom teacher may administer the TOD-Screener and complete the Teacher Rating Scale.
  • Reading specialists, specialist teaching assessors, psychologists, and speech and language therapists are best suited to administer the TOD-Early or the TOD-Comprehensive due to their advanced coursework and experience with standardised tests.
  • Teachers that are trained to administer the test and are supervised by professionals who have advanced training with standardised assessments may also administer the TOD-E or TOD-C.
  • Interpretating test results requires a higher level of skill. For that reason, while a broader range of individuals can administer the test, interpretating results requires a knowledge of dyslexia and formal training in test administration, scoring, and interpretation.

Examiners should use only those tests for which they have the appropriate training and expertise.
